This is a project I recently finished with Drawing I at East Paulding.
Students worked with black and white charcoal on toned paper. The challenge was to use the toned paper as the mid tones and use the charcoal for high light and low lights. They had the freedom to choose any animal as long as they had a resource image to study.
They turned out great!

Trompe L'oeil
My Ceramics I class just finished up a lesson on Trompe L'oeil imagery. If you are not familiar, trompe l'oeil means to fool the eye. Traditionally, painters have used this technique to trick their viewers into believing their paintings were the objects they painted and not just a picture on the canvas. Though using this technique for ceramics is a little different. Their goal was to take something that was not typically made out of clay and recreate it using clay so that as the viewer, you couldn't tell it was not the original object. Below are some pictures during production and post production.
You can see all of these in person at North Paulding's Art Show/Silent Auction on May 26th at the Dallas Municipal Court. McClure Middle school will also be hosting this event with us. Hope to see you there!

-What is Art?
-Elements and Principles
- What is a Critique?
Unit 2: VAHSVACU 1

-Subject matter/media
Unit 3: VAHSVAPR 1,2, & 3/ VAHSVAAR: 1, 2, & 3

That's really as far as we got-- just not enough time to continue. We also discussed having a Visual Verbal Journal for Visual Comp. There will be future posts detailing specific ideas and uses for the Visual Verbal Journals.

Welcome
This is an experiment... hopefully this will be a good way for us to share ideas, lessons, curriculum mapping, photos, etc. The new GA high school standards are on separate pages to the right.
